Arts Workshops: Wood-burning Craft
31 May

Wood-burning craft (a.k.a. pyrography) is a traditional Chinese art originated in the Han dynasty. Traditional pyrography is performed by ironing heated metal over bamboo, wood or other materials to create burn marks. Modern Pyrography, however, relies on special machines, e.g. wood-burning pen, with adjustable temperature of tips to create a wide range of tones and shades.

Lu Yu has studied the art at Nanyang Institute of Technology, Henan and Nanyang Pyrography Factory. She is currently the curator of a gallery at the Cattle Depot Artists Village and the lecturer of the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions.
