The 11th Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme Opens for Nomination Now!

Since its launch in 2008, the Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme (AAiSS) has amassed an alumni of more than 10,000 ambassadors from primary, secondary and special schools who have demonstrated their artistic talents and potentials while inviting others to partake in the fun of creating the arts, living out the cooperative spirit of 'Live in Art, Thrive in Sharing'.

 

Apart from the core activities – Finale Party and Creative+ Arts Camp which enable arts ambassadors to enhance their enjoyment in the arts, AAiSS will also present an exciting array of arts activities such as Arts Enhancement Courses and Arts Buddies. 

 

Certificate and activity allowance (New Arrangement)

Activity Allowance

  • Starting from the 11th edition, an activity allowance is introduced to replace the former scholarship. Ambassadors who are financially in need can apply for the allowance to subsidise travel expenses, admission fees and other expenses for participating in arts activities.
  • Nominated students who are eligible for "Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme" or  "Working Family Allowance Scheme" (Low-income Working Family Allowance Scheme) can apply for a $500 activity allowance.
  • To apply, ambassadors are required to submit relevant supporting documents together with the nomination form and fulfill the above requirements of obtaining certificate.

 

Certificate

All nominated ambassadors should fulfil the following requirements during the academic year in order to obtain a certificate:  

  • Promoting arts in school as the fulfilment ofpledges with the confirmation of the nominating teachers
  • Attend two compulsory activities
  • Arts ambassadors who are unable to attend the compulsory activities are required to submit documents to the HKADC Administration Office within one month after the event:
    • Leave Application Letter with teacher's signature and school chop, and
    • Art performance/ exhibition review

 

Arts Activities of the 11th edition:

AAiSS Finale Party (core activity)

The one-day finale party will be held at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Through activities such as exhibitions, stage performances, sharing sessions, creative arts booths and arts experience workshops, arts ambassadors can lead their peers and relatives to participate and share their arts experience and learning outcomes with others.

 

Creative+ Arts Day Camp (core activity)

The full day programme will lead the arts ambassadors into the world of art. They will have the chance to take part in artwork appreciation, arts creation activities and interactive sharing sessions.

 

Arts Enhancement Courses 2019

Three courses will be held from February to June 2019, including Visual Arts, Xiqu and A cappella x Movement.

 

Summer Rendezvous

A series of "Summer Rendezvous" activities will be launched in which arts ambassadors can enjoy an in-depth exchange with artists from different art forms. Arts ambassadors will be able to visit the artists' studios or performance venues, and talk with local artists face-to-face to appreciate their artwork and to learn their interesting stories behind.

 

Arts Buddies (Secondary School Division)

Through a series of diversified and interactive arts activities, Arts Buddies enhance their arts knowledge and appreciation ability. Their skills in sharing arts experiences with others as well as in general communication are sharpened. An interactive learning community is established to facilitate exchange among Arts Buddies and to cultivate lifelong learning of the arts.

 

Cultural Exchange Tour (Secondary School Division)

Arts ambassadors will have the chance to visit Mainland museums, arts and cultural heritages to enrich their knowledge of arts and culture in China. In the past, they had visited Henan, Gansu and Sichuan Provinces and exchanged with local students and artists to broaden their artistic horizon.

 

Nomination details:

  • Each school is allowed to nominate 2 students
  • Criteria of nomination: strong interest in arts, positive attitude with future arts-related career in mind, readiness to serve the society with artistic talents
  • Student's artistic expertise: expertise in any art form is welcome
