Arts with the Disabilities Association Hong Kong Trainer’s Training Master Class
29 Jan

Arts with the Disabilities Association Hong Kong have invited experienced and acclaimed artists from UK to hold two trainer's training master classes.

Cultivating the Creative Spark – Telling diverse stories individually, collectively, in words and images

The workshop will be a practical exploration of different modes of storytelling and collaboration, including creative writing exercises and non-verbal image-based workshops.

Kaite O'Reilly is an award-winning playwright based in Wales and was fortunate to train over several years with renowned Brazilian director and pedagogue Augusto Boal. She will lead a practical workshop introducing Boal's Image Theatre, an egalitarian form where participants mirror and mould each other into scenarios revealing aspects of their experience. She will also offer entry points to creative writing through ‘sensorial writing'. Several lectures about Disability arts and culture in the UK will be given. She will also share videos of her award-winning work with disabled and deaf performers.

The artists will share useful tools and theories behind responsive dance teaching, such as creating an inclusive space, adapting teaching language and encourage participants to find a sense of curiosity, creativity and play when teaching people with different bodies or different ways of learning.
