The Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC) is an arts promotion scheme for primary and secondary schools. Since its launch in 2008, the Arts Ambassadors-in-School Scheme (AAiSS) has amassed an alumni of more than 19,000 ambassadors from primary, secondary and special schools who have demonstrated their artistic talents and potentials while inviting others to partake in the fun of creating the arts, living out the cooperative spirit of ‘Live in Art, Thrive in Sharing’.

Each school can nominate TWO students to be the arts ambassadors each year. By appointing students with an interest in the arts, a willing mind and the spirit to serve as arts ambassadors for their schools, the scheme aims to form a new synergy of art to achieve the following objectives:

• To commend efforts in learning and practising the arts, and recognise students who demonstrate excellence in and commitment to the participation and sharing of the arts
• To encourage the active participation and sharing of artistic passion and widen the horizons of the arts ambassadors
• To encourage arts ambassadors to demonstrate their artistic talent and serve the community

AAiSS in its 18th edition will continue to organise a wide variety of exciting arts activities for arts ambassadors.

Open for nomination - November 2025

Registered primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong, including government schools, government subsidised schools, private schools, international schools and special schools are welcome to participate. Each school is allowed to nominate TWO students to be the Arts Ambassador.

Method of Nomination and Criteria

The nominated student may be accomplished in either one or more disciplines of the arts: literary arts, music, visual arts, film and media arts, dance, xiqu, and drama, according to the following criteria set forth by the HKADC. The nominee should:

• Possess artistic talent and creativity
• Show active participation in arts activities both inside and outside the school
• Fully utilise artistic creativity and passion to serve people and
• Take the initiative to promote and share the joy of art

Note: A student who had been nominated as the Arts Ambassador before, cannot be nominated again by the same school.

Confirmation of ambassadors' list - February 2026

Each school is allowed to nominate TWO students, information will be verified by the HKADC but no selection exercise will be done.

A series of arts activities ─ February - August 2026

All ambassadors must take part in the following core arts activities to develop creativity and new perspectives.

Creative⁺ Arts Camp (Core activity)

Creative⁺ Arts Camp will be held during the Easter holiday. The programme gathers arts ambassadors from different schools and allows them to experience different types of artistic creations, inspiring creativity.

Youth Arts Week (Core Activity)

An array of activities including opening ceremony, performances, arts exhibition, workshops and bazaar will be held during the summer holiday, allowing arts ambassadors to showcase their artistic learning outcomes and share the joy of artistic creation with the general public.

Arts Enhancement Courses

Performing arts and visual arts courses led by veteran artists or arts groups will be held between May and July. Arts ambassadors will gain a deeper understanding and practice in various fields of artistic creation.

Arts Buddies (Secondary School Division Only)

Jointly organised with the Education Bureau and Hong Kong Heritage Museum, “Arts Buddies” enhances arts ambassadors’ interest and ability in arts appreciation and deepens their understanding of the arts and cultural sector through a series of arts programmes including docent training, conservation talk, exhibition curation workshop and more.
